Ken STOTT

Singer-songwriter and guitar player are just two of Ken Stott’s talents. Ex-design teacher, woodworker, rail enthusiast, garden landscaper, real ale drinker, stamp dealer, cyclist, photographer; the list goes on and is reflected in his musical catalogue.  Ken doesn’t sit at home waiting for inspiration; he finds the places in life where songs can be found.

Firmly in the genre of contemporary acoustic folk, Ken writes about life.  If pushed to make a comparison, you might say he’s been influenced by Donovan, Ralph McTell, Richard Shindell or Paul Simon, amongst many others.  A mature solo performer, Ken’s songs are unique and his lyrics draw you in and invite you to listen and to use your imagination.

Inspired to record some of his material, he now has a four-track EP, SongWriter and two full length CDs, What about Tomorrow ? and Keep the Music Live which feature on the MUSIC section of this website.  Ken’s work seems to appeal to both young and old and rarely does an evening go by without someone saying how much they liked one or other of his songs.

Based in Wolverhampton, Ken has performed at a wide range of different folk clubs, working men’s clubs, pubs and at festivals across the Midlands.  He was invited to take part in the Up Close and Local show in the Lichfield Guildhall and to perform regularly at the Yardbird & the Old Moseley Arms in Birmingham.  Ken has participated in events at the Upton on Severn,  Ely, Perthshire Amber, Bath & Shrewsbury Folk Festivals.

In both his songs and his guitar playing you will find something of the journey so far and a hint of what’s to come, as Ken works toward yet another album. A founder-member of the Birmingham Songwriting Circle, politics, philosophy, poetry and a subtle touch of humour are all to be found woven into the songs that currently feature on his debut four-track EP, SongWriter, his second CD, What about Tomorrow ? [2014] and his latest CD Keep the Music Live [2016]

"This artist is the whole package, fabulous lyrics that get you thinking and questioning
from word one and a beautiful lilting guitar style played so consistently that it belies

the underlying technical skill" – Richard Gibbons

"If you want someone to write about observations of life, he is up there with the best.
Ken’s work is a true link between the metaphorical and the magical"
– Sandpiper Folk Club
